About

It was a love of people-watching that brought me to photography in 1995. I bought my first “real” camera and wandered out into my New Orleans neighborhood to capture the rich tapestry of life. I’d bring my pictures home and learn to print them on the second-hand enlarger that sat on top of the washing machine in my darkroom/bathroom.

Photography’s come a long way since then, and so have I.

In 1998 I shoved off for the University of Missouri, Columbia, where I earned my Masters of Arts in photojournalism in 2000. I moved to the DC area in 2001 and started as a staff photographer for The Gazette. I began photographing weddings soon after and loved it. The laughter and tears and the happy couple looking their best are a photographer’s dream.

I’ve shot over sixty weddings since then, and I still love it. Most importantly, my experience has taught me how to gracefully handle the curve balls wedding photography can throw my way.

My photographs have appeared in numerous newspapers and magazines, including The Washington Post, and the National Press Photographers Women in Photojournalism Conference Juried Exhibit in 2004.
